FLAMING HEART

FLAMING HEART is about life in the village of San Miguel de Allende. The flaming heart is the traditional Mexican Sacred Heart thus it is a highly popular motif through out the culture. It seems the perfect symbol for Mexico, a place with such heart and excitement. In these images I hope to reveal both the beauty and the darker, more mysterious side. It is difficult to believe but many of Mexico's educated young so embrace the modernization of their country that they want to forget the old ways of their people. However, beneath the surface of this ancient place there still bubbles all the old rituals and practices of an ancient culture, despite the push to ignore and forget. It is my goal to embrace and illuminate those mythical stirrings.
